A social media advertising case study: the mobile landing page that converts

Does advertising on social media actually work? Does it bring in real customers rather than just clicks? It is the question clients ask most often at the start of a campaign, and it is not always easy to answer. Looking at campaigns that clearly worked helps, and one telecoms operator's mobile landing page is a good example.

Unlike most of what you see online, the ad itself was strong: aimed squarely at people looking to switch provider or tariff, with a clear image, an answer to the obvious questions, and a pricing structure that gave people a reason to click.

What the landing page did right

The link led to a page built specifically for mobile, where the visitor could either tap a button to call directly or fill in a short form. Two ways to convert, both requiring almost no effort.

Step by step, the page showed a comparison between the standard monthly price and the promotional one, so the saving was visible rather than implied. And it carried a clearly visible button to sign up on the spot, without further steps.

The transferable lesson

What makes this work is not the budget. It is that the visitor understands exactly what they get and what it costs within a couple of seconds of arriving, and there is exactly one thing to do next. Most campaigns fail on the landing page, not on the ad.
